Energy Rating Labels
The Energy Rating label uses stars to show the energy efficiency of a heater. The more stars, the more energy efficient the heater the lower its running costs when compared with another similar unit in the same situation and the lower the greenhouse gas emissions.
Use the Energy Rating label to compare different models with the same heat output, the more stars, the more money you'll save and the better it will be for our environment. Even a one star improvement can save around 10% on running costs!
Sometimes a high star rating model can cost a little more to purchase, but the savings on energy bills can easily make up the difference in just a few years.
Energy Efficient Heaters
There are several features to consider when purchasing a gas heater. Looks, size, capacity and price will all influence which product you buy but remember that it is also very important to check the operating costs of the model you are about to purchase.
If you choose a model that is not suited to your lifestyle and your home, the ongoing running costs can easily exceed the original purchase price of the heater (see the media link for a recent article in the Herald for an example). Check the Energy Efficiency star rating before you buy.
